The Ministry of Information film, A Date with a Tank, was released in 1944, is a dramatisation of the race to destroy the Tiger I with the creation of the 17-pounder anti-tank guns.

It depicts the race with the German manufacturers to get the 17-pounder anti-tank guns, used on the Sherman Firefly, in the field before the rumoured Pz Kptw VI Tiger, or Tiger I. In the film, the timescale is shortened for dramatic effect. A Date with a Tank also features Tiger 131 as firing practice for the new guns.
